Summary, etc. The aim of this article is to identify which dimensions are involved in the structuring of citizenship in French adolescents. More specifically, which part does family take in citizenship education and how is citizenship perceived by teenagers and experienced compared to other experiences of socialization ? 32 teenagers aged 14 to 15 and enrolled in secondary school have filled in a questionnaire on the representations of citizenship, family education and contributions of other social environments. Teenagers strongly valued their family upbringing, particularly for social values, behavioral rules and commitment. School was well known for being a source of knowledge on citizenship, as were friends and peers for values and sharing, hobbies for collective rules, and the media for political and social culture. Family influence should be more explored, specifically the role of each member, and the parent’s point of view about their role in citizenship education.
