Summary, etc. | Dans cet article, nous étudions dans quelle mesure les comportements de citoyenneté organisationnelle (OCB) académiques servent des buts d’autoprésentation d’élèves de collèges et influencent la façon dont leurs enseignants les perçoivent. Des élèves de sixième et de quatrième avaient à répondre à un questionnaire de OCB académiques selon le paradigme d’autoprésentation. Leur enseignant principal avait à les évaluer et les situer sur des traits relevant de l’utilité sociale et de la désirabilité sociale. Les résultats indiquent que les élèves déclarent davantage de OCB lorsqu’ils avaient pour consigne de se faire bien voir plutôt que mal voir de leurs enseignants. De plus, la fréquence de OCB déclarée par les élèves influence positivement la façon dont leur enseignant principal les décrit. Cet effet des OCB est, néanmoins, observé uniquement sur le versant désirable de la valeur sociale lorsque sont décrites des filles ayant une faible moyenne générale. Ces résultats sont discutés en référence au modèle de la gestion d’impression des OCB. |

Summary, etc. | We looked at whether academic organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) serve pupils’ self-presentational purposes and influence how their teachers perceive them. Sixth and eighth graders answered an academic OCB questionnaire based on the self-presentation paradigm. Their teachers rated them on traits referring to social utility and social desirability. Results showed that pupils instructed to seek their teachers approval rather than their disapproval declared more OCB. Furthermore, high declared OCB frequency positively influenced the way teachers described their pupils. This OCB declaration effect was, however, only observed when we considered the social desirability ratings of poorly performing girls. These results are discussed with reference to the impression management model of OCB. |
