Summary, etc. | Health issues, such as disease, the pharmaceutical industry, and human migration are part of globalization. Indeed, we are witnessing a greater mobility of auxiliary nursing staff and other developments in medical tourism. Nurses, often from the south, migrate north for higher pay, and patients find it more attractive to go to southern countries to be treated at a lower cost. These migrations are not without consequences: brain drain, lack of medical follow-up for patients . . . At this point, the question becomes how to regulate these flows. Northern and southern countries are trying to find answers through the introduction of “codes,” but can medicine escape consumer society, which has transformed medical procedure into a simple commercial decision? |
