Summary, etc. The psychotherapeutic group and all its variations (psychoanalytical or group with mediator object) play a key role in structuring the clinical setting in day hospitals. In this paper, the author discusses, from an analytical perspective, her experience with mediation in a group setting. She argues that an analytical space based on the group can link a psychoanalytical group and a group with a mediator object in order to contain and reinforce the symbolization process. This view requires a theory of mediation, reflection on the specific mediator object—corporal mediation in this instance—and a theory on the entire clinical setting in terms of complementarity, interdependency, and “covalence” of group spaces.
