| Summary, etc. | Our perspective emphasizes the value of group psychoanalysis focused on the body as one way of dealing with adolescent obesity. We stress groupness as a therapeutic tool, since the latest health recommendations more frequently involve the cognitive-behavioral at the expense of “therapeutic methods” with psychoanalytic aims. However, those two forms of treatment can complement each other.Indeed, the therapeutic mediation group can be a containing support for obese adolescent girls “losing weight”, who present a defect in the psychic container, which is translated by an unconscious image of the body as a problem. In this article we shed light on the psychic and somatic dimensions of these girls, linked to puberty and weight loss, as well as on the individual and group issues which arise in an aesthetic workshop of body mediation. These issues simultaneously have a formal impact on the psychological boundaries of the individual and the group. |
