520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Players’ transfers originally aimed to promote the integrity and the balance of competitions, protect minors and stimulate players’ training. However, these objectives are less likely to be reached in the presence of the several drifts observed in the players’ transfer market. The transfer market is indeed characterized by a substantial opacity, an important level of segmentation and an excessive role offered to sports agents. The article first aims to describe these drifts, before outlining a pathological development of players’ transfers: Third Party Ownership. This practice will be presented in detail and analyzed in order to underline how it represents a risk for football. In this context, only an ambitious strategy integrated into an overall design could solve the specific risks associated with players’ transfers. JEL Codes: F16, Z22, Z28
