520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The nursing population is aging in many Western countries. Faced with the heavy physical and psychological demands of providing care, many senior nurses are planning to retire. This process risks worsening the shortage of nurses, and endangering access to care for part of the population. A number of concepts, including Capacity to Work and Age Management, have been developed in order to encourage a better appreciation of the needs of professionals in these jobs. These concepts offer models and tools to think in a new way about work organization, and allow carers to remain active and work in favorable conditions. But establishing these approaches requires substantial political and institutional will.
