Summary, etc. | Nursing training in Brazil is based on the following principles that guide the profession: assistance, management, education, and research. These activities cannot be developed separately, because the intersection between them is an important factor in providing safe, high-quality nursing care to the population. Recognizing the importance of linking these activities, this study focuses on professional managerial training. The aim of this paper is to describe the teaching of management in nursing training, by way of a critical and reflective analysis of a group of teachers from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The Brazilian health reform movement and the implementation of national curriculum guidelines have resulted in significant advances in teaching nursing management, considering that, currently, content is delivered and practical activities take place at different points during training. It is concluded that, in this new context, teachers have sought more contemporary theoretical references, which focus on a more participative form of management in order to train competent professionals who have a more humane and ethical practice. |
