520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This article seeks to show the influence of Albert the Great’s Book On the Nature and Origin of the Soul upon Dante’s Convivio, Berthold de Moosburg’s Expositio super Elementationem theologicam Procli and Guillaume de Vaurouillon’s Liber de anima. Albert’s work plainly influenced the Convivio, as regards the genesis of the human soul, the arguments adduced for its immortality, the origins of the intellect and the concept of nobility. The commentary in Berthold’s Expositio on propositions 17 and 41 makes explicit and frequent appeals to Albert’s text (taken up and cited eight and six times respectively). And finally, Guillaume de Vaurouillon’s Liber de anima borrows from Albert’s work (from c. 7 of tr. II) its philosophical arguments for the immortality of the human soul.
