Summary, etc. The effects of profound changes in society on the field of community work imply various reconfigurations that effect the profession itself as well as facilitation training. These developments appear in discourse, and more generally in the field of social work, as a demand for professional standards. Work organizations rely on training to “produce” professionals. But emerging educational paradigms, including individualized training or personalized curricula, raise several questions. The validation of acquired experience (VAE) is one such paradigm. The typology presented in this article derives from the notion of a project approach which is used as an analytical axis. The survey conducted on community and social workers shows that commitment to the process of validating acquired experience is different according to the subjects’ belief patterns and relation to training.
