Summary, etc. With Covid-19, many believed that the shift from face-to-face to distance learning would negatively affect academic success. The decrease in social contacts, the physical distance from university life and the anxiety-provoking atmosphere could make us expect the worst. Two semesters later, we conducted an assessment within UniDistance Suisse using two main sources of information: a comparison of multi-year dropout rates (n=4664) and of grades (n=3577) by focusing on differences between classes before vs. during the Covid-19 lockdown. We completed the descriptive analyses with Pearson’s chi-square and Mann-Whitney U tests. The results did not provide support for a negative impact of the Covid-19 lockdown on the academic success of non-traditional students, i.e. adults returning to study (average age = 35 years). This finding reveals the resilience and merit of the majority of those concerned who were able to find the resources to cope.
