Summary, etc. In the current context of difficult access to health care, young GPs are often accused of losing their vocation and of disengagement. But why are these young professionals turning away from the role, as practiced by their elders? Through an analysis of the GP‘s role and the evolution of primary care, we seek to show the accumulating constraints in this field, which contribute to young GPs opting for other types of practice better suited to their expectations. At a time when general practitioner demographics are plummeting, urgent action is needed to restore the attractiveness of this practice, which is essential to meeting the population’s health care needs.
