Summary, etc. Since reconstructive surgery for female genital mutilation (FGM) was developed in France, an increasing number of victims have turned to this procedure. It is a complex personal journey involving issues of sexuality and transmission of familial and cultural identity in the context of strong social stigmatization. This process, despite being personal at the start, becomes a significant opportunity to talk about this issue in the family, especially because its verbalization is ultimately part of the healing process itself, intended in a general sense. The analysis of the reconstruction journeys of the young women who have had this procedure, or intend to have it, highlights the multidimensional nature of this social experience.
