Summary, etc. | This paper seeks to gain a better understanding of the social and academic networks into which postcolonial scholars have shaped their theoretical critiques against the West. Based on the fact that most of these critiques stem from scholars who relocated in the West (especially in American universities), the paper argues that it is necessary to combine this experience of exile with other social and political factors, such as the academic fields to which the postcolonial scholars belong, as well as the international relations into which scholarly exchanges are embedded. To do so, it focuses on Tu Weiming, a China-born scholar who now teaches at the university of Harvard and is considered one of the leading intellectuals of the rising New-Confucianism. |
