Summary, etc. Persistent left superior vena cava is a rare congenital anomaly of thoracic venous circulation. It is often asymptomatic and discovered by chance during a venous catheterization procedure. We report the case of a patient with persistent left superior vena cava, in whom the placement of a pacemaker was not technically possible due to this anomaly. To address the symptomatic complete atrioventricular block, the patient underwent epicardial pacing.
