| Summary, etc. | The particular position of a female candidate (for the French general elections of 2002, for the socialist party, against Alain Juppé in the second district of the French department of Gironde) reveals gender as a political resource, despite the fall of the theme of equal representation after April 21st, 2002. This particular observation presents gender exclusively as a means, as does the practical will to identify utilitarianism in a world of militants. However, it helps to identify the constraints of this particular strategic identity. As an individual resource, the claim to female identity must respect certain limits, both collective and individual. This claim is perceived in many contradictory ways by the militants, both within the party and outside, towards the electors. If this resource is individually useless, in the context of equal representation, it is collectively available, even if its usefulness mainly depends on the degree of politicization of the elections. |
