Summary, etc. Who defines the time spent together in couples working atypical hours, such as nights, late nights, early mornings, and/or weekends? How are individual schedules concretely pooled? Does each spouse organize and prioritize their various social times differently? Temporal work – which is diffuse yet omnipresent – is not a matter of book-keeping; spouses do not seem to keep track of it, and similarly, it is not recorded by public statistics, thus making it all the more invisible. By studying the production and management of family time in couples working atypical hours, this article aims to help bring this work to light. It thus questions the subversive power of the temporal work performed. As it is mostly handled by women, does it provide them with greater control over the management of their time – whether personal, family, and professional?
