| Summary, etc. | Since the 1990s, the use of the word “evaluation” in social and medico-social action has increased. The number of evaluations conducted has also increased. Yet, when compared to health professions, they are still underused. More precision is required from them, with the need for four evaluation levels to be codified: the evaluation of personal and family situations; the evaluation of child protection services; the evaluation of local systems in which other partners are involved; and the evaluation of national policy.French law stipulates the need for evaluation at different stages in the childcare process. Yet, where the number of possible evaluators is quite high, what happens in practice lags behind expectations. Opinions are still expressed without ample evidence. |
