Summary, etc. | Today, digital tools are becoming increasingly used, especially in social and medico-social institutions. They present many advantages: better support for users, easier transmission of information, help with diagnosis, and enhancement of adapted communication. However, it is important that these tools do not present barriers, cause a loss of skills, or accentuate pre-existing inequalities. The main challenge surrounds their appropriation and regular use by all users concerned, including professionals but also vulnerable people and their relatives, while taking into account all constraints (economic, organizational, human, etc.). This article proposes a reflection on the development and appropriation of digital tools in social and medico-social institutions, paying attention to all users, their needs, their desires, and their expectations. Through different examples related to the support of a specific vulnerable population (elderly people with an intellectual disability), we will explain how digital tools could be used to facilitate different aspects, such as training, communication, and the transmission of information. To succeed in this approach, service users must be supported, and the tools must be integrated into the lives and care pathways of the people concerned. |
