| Summary, etc. | En prenant pour point de départ la mise en œuvre du plan Normandie Hydrogène, cet article revient sur les modalités de participation des citoyens à la définition de la trajectoire de transition énergétique rendue nécessaire par le changement climatique. Il s’agit ensuite de s’intéresser à une initiative originale visant à élargir le pouvoir d’expérimentation des publics : la mise en œuvre d’un living lab consacré à la place de l’hydrogène dans la transition. Habituellement réservée à l’innovation, cette méthodologie a été appliquée dans une perspective plus large de démocratie participative. Fortement investi par le secteur privé et le secteur public, le living lab a été en partie instrumentalisé dans une perspective d’acceptation sociale par les experts invités et s’est transformé en sphère de diffusion des initiatives institutionnelles. Les prototypes élaborés par les participants dans cet environnement ont finalement escamoté la dimension politique de la transition quand ceux des bricoleurs de l’hydrogène semblent davantage en mesure de la faire émerger. |

| Summary, etc. | Taking as a starting point the implementation of the Normandy Hydrogen Plan, this article reviews the modalities of citizen participation in the definition of the energy transition trajectory made necessary by climate change. It then focuses on an original initiative aimed at broadening the public’s power of experimentation: the implementation of a living lab dedicated to the place of hydrogen in the transition. Usually reserved for innovation, this methodology was applied in a broader perspective of participatory democracy. Heavily invested by the private and public sectors, the living lab was partly instrumentalized in a perspective of social acceptance by the invited experts and was transformed into a sphere of diffusion of institutional initiatives. The prototypes elaborated by the participants in this environment have finally sidestepped the political dimension of the transition when those of the hydrogen tinkerers seem to be more capable of bringing it out. |
