Summary, etc. | Cet article analyse l’effet global et celui des composantes de l’image d’une région de production sur la qualité perçue de l’huile d’olive. Deux expérimentations ont été conduites dans deux contextes culturels différents (France et Tunisie). Pour tester l’effet global, un plan quasi expérimental de type pré-test/post-test avec un groupe témoin a été mobilisé. L’effet des composantes a été mis en évidence en utilisant la méthode de choix discrets. Les résultats présentés confirment l’hypothèse selon laquelle l’image de la région d’origine, spécifique au produit, a un effet sur la qualité globale perçue quelle que soit la nationalité des répondants. De plus, les différentes dimensions de l’image de la région d’origine étudiées influencent séparément le comportement de choix des consommateurs. |

Summary, etc. | This paper proposes to measure the overall effect of the image of the olive oil’s region of origin and the effect of the components of this image on consumers’ perceived quality. To test the overall effect of the image, a quasi-experimental, pre-test/post-test type design was developed, using a control group. The discrete choice method was used to study the effect of the components. The results of this research suggest that information on the regional image influences significantly the perception of the intrinsic attributes of the product and its perceived quality. They also suggest that each of the three dimensions of the regional image (variety of olives, natural conditions and human factor) influences, with a different weight, the perceived quality of the product. |
