Summary, etc. L’expansion des firmes multinationales de production et de distribution d’un grand nombre de produits et l’extension au niveau mondial des conséquences des dysfonctionnements du système agroalimentaire international élève la contestation du consommateur actuel quant aux changements promus. L’avenir, en raison de la complexité du système, paraît de plus en plus incertain, tandis que les conséquences de l’expansion des firmes deviennent plus importantes lorsqu’elles exercent des activités qui concernent le grand public, comme la grande distribution. La formation des perceptions et des choix des consommateurs se réalise à travers un conflit entre l’international inconnu qui leur est proposé et le traditionnel connu, qu’ils ont l’habitude de rechercher. Parmi les changements promus, les produits sous label privé constituent un exemple caractéristique, relevant le conservatisme des consommateurs grecs.

Summary, etc. The expansion of multinational companies of production and distribution of a large number of products and the proliferation at world-wide level of the consequences of international agro-food system malfunctions has provoked ambivalence to the contemporary consumer regarding the changes that are being promoted. Due to the complexity of the system, the future seems more and more uncertain while the consequences of the expansion of companies are becoming much more intensive when they are involved in sectors concerning the general consumer public, like large distribution. The determination of consumer perceptions and choices is influenced by a conflict between the unknown global item proposed to them and the well-known traditional one, which they usually purchase. Among the promoted changes, private label products constitute a characteristic example reflecting the conservatism of Greek consumers.
