| Summary, etc. | RésuméLa coopération dans la production du textile et de l’habillement à Sfax (Tunisie) constitue l’objet de cette étude. La concentration spatiale d’entreprises, encore dénommée « district industriel » Marshallien, engendre des économies externes et facilite la coopération. L’objectif de l’article est d’éclairer quelles sont les variables corrélées avec une coopération « durable ». La coopération peut prendre des formes variées selon qu’elles sont écrites ou informelles, qu’elles induisent ou non des innovations partagées. Les contrats dont il est question relèvent pour l’essentiel de la soustraitance verticale et horizontale. Les données se réfèrent à une enquête réalisée en 2004 sur un échantillon représentatif de 25 % des entreprises du gouvernorat. L’analyse des déterminants de la coopération est conduite en utilisant l’économétrie des variables qualitatives, notamment les modèles logit. L’estimation économétrique de ces modèles suggère que la coopération est corrélée positivement à la taille et au caractère exportateur, mais négativement à la présence d’une ascendance familiale. La coopération s’établit par ailleurs davantage au centre ville de Sfax qu’en périphérie.Classification JEL : D21, L14, L67. |

| Summary, etc. | Cooperation within the textile and clothing sector in Sfax (Tunisia) is the object of this paper. The spatial concentration of firms within a Marshallian “industrial district” enhances external economies and makes cooperation easier. This study sheds some light on the variables that are correlated with a permanent cooperation. Cooperation potential takes various forms with respect to its informal or written character, and whether contractual arrangements are designed or not to promote innovation. Most contracts we refer to are of the vertical or horizontal subcontracting-type. The dataset results from a survey realized in 2004. The sample is representative of the firm population and accounts for about 25 % of the district organizations. The empirical analysis has been carried out by mobilizing qualitative econometrics techniques, especially logit models. Estimations do not reject a positive correlation between cooperation at one hand and the size of the firm and its institutional status regarding exports at the other hand. However, it is negatively correlated with the presence of family roots. In addition cooperation is more likely to occur within the city of Sfax than in its periphery. |
