| Summary, etc. | Ces dernières années, les envois de fonds des migrants ont conforté leur place sur le devant de la scène quand il s’agit d’établir un lien entre migration et développement. Si l’effet positif des envois de fonds des migrants est indiscutable, il convient de s’interroger sur la soutenabilité à long terme de politiques telles que la réduction des coûts de transaction. Une attention particulière doit être accordée à l’étude du comportement des migrants face à une réduction permanente des coûts, plutôt qu’à une baisse ponctuelle. Il convient également d’explorer d’autres politiques qui permettent de réduire les coûts potentiels de la migration et d’améliorer le cadre migratoire de sorte à promouvoir le développement.Codes JEL: F22, F24, O15. |

| Summary, etc. | In recent years, remittances have assumed their place in the spotlight when it comes to the nexus between migration and development. While the positive effect of remittances is undeniable, one has to question the long-lasting sustainability of policies such as the reduction of transaction costs. Particular attention should be paid to the study of migrant behaviour in the face of permanent reductions in costs, rather than one-off discounts. It is also necessary to explore other policies which can mitigate the potential costs of migration and improve the migration framework in a way that fosters development. |
