| Summary, etc. | Résumé Ces cinq dernières années, l’industrie aéronautique civile a connu un fort mouvement de concentration qui a abouti à un partage de la production mondiale des appareils, longs et moyens courriers, entre l’avionneur européen Airbus et le constructeur américain Boeing. L’organisation territoriale du système industriel de l’aéronautique révèle la constitution par ces deux firmes d’un modèle « d’entreprise réseau » fondé sur une division du travail entre plusieurs métropoles, qui recèlent chacune à leur échelle un complexe d’activités et de compétences interdépendantes, qualifié « d’entreprise étendue ». Tant pour Airbus en Europe que pour Boeing à l’échelle de l’Amérique du Nord et du Pacifique, le fonctionnement de l’entreprise réseau prévaut par l’échange de personnels et d’informations entre les sites de production, et par l’organisation d’une logistique sophistiquée pour le transport des composants vers les sites d’assemblage final. |

| Summary, etc. | In recent years, the civil aviation industry has been experiencing a strong trend towards consolidation, resulting in the division of world production and medium and long-haul aircraft between European manufacturer Airbus and US manufacturer Boeing. The territorial organisation of the aviation industrial system shows the creation by these firms of a ‘network company’, based on the division of labour between several metropolises which each contain a complex of activities and interdependent know-how on their own scale, known as an ‘extended company’. For both Airbus on the scale of Europe, and Boeing on the scale of North America and the Pacific, ‘network companies’ prevail through the exchange of personnel and information between several manufacturing locations, followed by a sophisticated system of logistics for transporting plane components to their final assembly locations. |
