| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article propose une méthode d’estimation des origines géographiques des immigrants s’installant dans une aire donnée entre deux périodes. Elle se base sur une approche bayésienne des probabilités d’origine tenant compte des fréquences patronymiques et de leurs variations entre ces deux périodes. La méthode est appliquée aux migrants qui ont quitté les zone rurales et les petites ou moyennes communes pour venir s’installer, au tournant de la Première Guerre mondiale, dans les grandes métropoles des régions françaises. La diversité des origines de ces nouveaux urbains est mise en relation avec la spécificité géographique et historique des villes « réceptrices ». |

This method is applied to infer the origin of migrants leaving rural or small districts to settle in large urban centres at the time of World War I.
