| Summary, etc. | Based on two newspapers articles written in Vienna during the revolution period of 1848, this paper will show that the State, although Stifter rarely speaks of it, has to provide all the preconditions for a stable and fruitful life for the human beings living in it. The writer is a vital part of this structure in that he has to educate his fellow countrymen so that they are no longer subjected to their often destructive passions, a role that Stifter himself tried to act out in his own life. |

| Summary, etc. | Von zwei Zeitungsartikeln aus dem Revolutionsjahr 1848 ausgehend soll dieser Beitrag zeigen, dass Stifter, auch wenn er den Staat in seinen Schriften kaum thematisiert hat, diese Einrichtung als die Grundvoraussetzung für ein stabiles und ertragreiches gesellschaftliches Leben der Menschen betrachtete. Dem Schriftsteller fällt dabei eine wichtige Rolle zu, da er seine Mitmenschen zu erziehen und zu bilden hat in der Hoffnung, dass sie ihre Leidenschaften, die sich im Alltag oft zerstörerisch auswirken, zu beherrschen vermögen. Stifter selbst hat zeit seines Lebens durch die von ihm ausgeübten Ämter diese Funktion des Schriftstellers zu verwirklichen versucht. |
