| Summary, etc. | That strand of Nietzsche’s poetry revisiting classical and modern uses of the epigram has been neglected by the existing critical literature. Yet this is how Nietzsche himself described what he was doing in the 63 poems with which the Gay Science begins. A number of his poems represent a new use of a genre based on concision as the ultimate expression of sarcasm. Writing aphorisms in verse allowed Nietzsche to give the first poetic formalization of his philosophy before the publication of Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Responding to the reflections of Herder and Hegel, this stylistic approach allowed him to get beyond the aporias associated with the fragment. The omnipresent theme of folly is, via Erasmus, inscribed within the epigram through a dionysian genealogy. |

| Summary, etc. | Ein ganzer Teil der Dichtung Nietzsches, und zwar derjenige, der sich erneut dem antiken wie modernen Genre des Epigramms zuwendet, wird von der Kritik weitgehend vernachlässigt. Mit « Epigramm » überschreibt Nietzsche die 63 Gedichte, die Die fröhliche Wissenschaft eröffnen. Eine Reihe dieser Gedichte stellt eine neue Verwendung dieses Genres dar, das auf der Kürze, der Schlusspointe und dem Sarkasmus basiert. Diese Form des Aphorismus in Versen erlaubt es Nietzsche, bereits vor Also sprach Zarathustra, seine Philosophie in eine poetische Form zu gießen. In Erwiderung auf die Reflexionen Herders und Hegels versucht er in dieser Gattung, die Aporien des Fragments zu überschreiten. Damit reiht die allgegenwärtige Thematik des « tollen Menschen » das Epigramm – via Erasmus – in eine dionysische Genealogie ein. |
