| Summary, etc. | Parmi les écrits hagiographiques traduits du latin en vieux norrois aux xiie et xiiie siècles et plus spécifiquement dans les Vies des apôtres, on trouve l’histoire de Clément de Rome, troisième pape après l’apôtre Pierre. L’histoire islandaise ( Clemens saga) est la version vernaculaire la plus importante de l’Europe occidentale au Moyen Âge selon les recherches de Dietrich Hofmann. Cet article souhaite revenir sur les conclusions de trois chercheurs et éditeurs concernant cette histoire populaire, adossée aux Recognitiones, qualifié de « premier roman chrétien », et sa relation avec l’histoire de l’Apôtre, la Pétrs saga I. Le domaine des Postola sögur n’est pas complètement exploré et la littérature apocryphe reste un sujet très intéressant à aborder pour les chercheurs. Cette prose scandinave divertissante nous raconte ce qui s’est passé il y a deux mille ans : les disputes entre un apôtre et un magicien. Le compilateur montre des efforts stylistiques pour décrire la bataille entre le paganisme (mythologie), la magie et le christianisme. |

| Summary, etc. | Within the genre of Saints’ lives translated from Latin to Old Norse during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries and more precisely among the lives of the Apostles, we can find the story of Clement of Rome, third Pope after Apostle Peter. The Icelandic story ( Clemens saga) is the most important vernacular version found in Western Europe in the Middle Ages according to research of Dietrich Hofmann. Our purpose is to discuss some conclusions of three scholars and editors concerning this popular history, based on the Recognitiones, called the “first Christian novel”, and its relation to the story of Apostle, la Pétrs saga I. The field of Postola sögur is not fully explored and the apocryphal literature is still a very interesting research project for scholars to investigate. This entertaining Old Norse prose relates us about things which happened two thousand years ago, the disputes between an apostle and a magician. The compiler shows stylistic efforts to describe the battle between paganism (mythology), magic and Christianity. |
