| Summary, etc. | Bevilacqua, who recently passed away (2019), first came to prominence as a leading scholar of German Romanticism. But the Florentine also introduced Paul Celan’s poetry in Italy. His entire critical work, written in Italian, has been translated into German, except for the essay which is presented here for the first time in a French translation. In-depth conversations with Celan in Paris later confirmed many of the intuitions Bevilacqua outlined in his essay.The question he poses here leads him to counter the theses of “pure poetry” and Mallarmean Hermeticism with a time-related re-reading of Celan’s texts. In this way, the critic attempts to restore the “pneumatic” path (the “breath”) that results in the “forced” impossibility to say the world such as it was and such as it is. And so, the word merges into silence. |

| Summary, etc. | Der kürzlich verstorbene Florentiner Germanist Giuseppe Bevilacqua hat sich als Kenner der deutschen Romantik einen Namen gemacht. Daneben ist ihm die Einführung von Celans Werk in Italien zu verdanken. Bevilacquas zuerst auf Italienisch verfasste Studien zur Celanschen Dichtung erschienen später in deutscher Übertragung.Der hier zum ersten Mal in französischer Sprache abgedruckte Essay zu Celan gehört zur Frühphase von Bevilacquas Beschäftigung mit dem Dichter aus der Bukowina und gibt wesentliche Erträge von intensiven Gesprächen beider in Paris wieder.Bevilacquas Interpretationsansatz weicht sowohl von der These der „poésie pure“ ab wie auch von einer durch Mallarmés poetischen Hermetismus beeinflussten Analyse. Privilegiert wird nun eine Lesart der Gedichte, die die vom Dichter erlebte Zeit genau berücksichtigt. Bevilacquas „pneumatische“ Deutung kommt zu dem Ergebnis, Celans Dichtung drücke die Unmöglichkeit aus, die Welt, wie sie ist und gewesen ist, zu versprachlichen. |
