| Summary, etc. | RÉSUMÉ Cette étude évalue si les conversations mère-enfant évaluées lors d’une collation à 5 ans et demi sont associées aux représentations d’attachement (récits d’attachement) des enfants à 8 ans et demi. Les résultats ont démontré que des conversations axées sur l’échange émotionnel et la réflexion prédisent les représentations d’attachement confiant. Des conversations marquées par le renversement de rôle mènent à l’émergence de représentations d’attachement apeuré. Enfin, alors que des conversations axées sur la minimisation des émotions n’ont pas été associées aux représentations d’attachement indifférent, celles amplifiant l’expression émotionnelle prédisent représentations d’attachement préoccupé. Nos résultats mettent en évidence l’importance des conversations mère-enfant dans le développement des modèles internes opérants d’attachement des enfants à la période scolaire. |

| Summary, etc. | The role of mother-child conversations in the development of attachment representations in childhood This study evaluates if mother-child conversations observed at age 5.5 during a snacktime are related to children’s attachment representations at age 8.5 (story completion task). Results revealed that conversations characterized by integration of feelings and thoughts were related to confident attachment representations. Conversations marked by role-reversal predicted frightened attachment representations. Whereas conversations characterized by minimisation of affects were not associated with casual attachment representations, those marked by affective exaggeration predicted busy attachment representations. Our results shed light on the importance of affective communication between children and their parents in shaping attachment internal working models in childhood. |
