| Summary, etc. | À l’heure où les cliniques psychiatriques ne se désemplissent pas, le rôle des gem est primordial, pour « l’avenir du handicap psychique » notamment, mais également pour les personnes avec des troubles du spectre autistique ou vieillissantes. En effet, les groupes d’entraide mutuelle permettent d’apporter un autre regard : vierge et non médical. Certes, la distinction entre soin et accompagnement n’est pas toujours clarifiée correctement auprès de tous, ce qui ne donne pas encore une entière légitimité aux bienfaits des gem. Il est vrai que pour le moment il n’y a pas assez de recul sur ces pratiques. Toutefois, Patrick Gohet, délégué interministériel aux Personnes handicapées, déclarait en 2004 dans une interview à Sport adapté magazine : « Il est indispensable que, dans les structures de vie et de travail où il y a des activités d’accompagnement, les activités physiques et sportives trouvent toute leur place. » C’est pourquoi l’association sportive Actiphypsy vise un accompagnement exigeant des usagers des gem à partir d’une pratique raisonnée des activités physiques adaptées ( apa) et accompagnés par des professionnels apa. |

| Summary, etc. | At a time when psychiatric clinics are in high demand, the role of mags (Mutual Aid Groups) is essential for the “future of intellectual disability” in particular, but also for people with autistic spectrum disorders or for the elderly. In fact, mags make it possible to take a different perspective: a fresh, non-medical perspective. Admittedly, the distinction between care and support is not always properly clarified for everyone, which means that the benefits of mags are not yet fully recognized. It is true that, as things stand, there has not been enough objective study of these practices. However, Patrick Gohet, inter-ministerial delegate for disabled people, declared in 2004, in an interview with the magazine Sport adapté (issue 39, September 2004): “It is essential that in the living and working structures where there are support activities, physical and sports activities are accorded the importance that they deserve.” This is why the sports association Actiphypsy aims to provide a high level of support to users of mags based on a well-planned practice of adapted physical activities, in a community spirit, and with the support of apa (Adapted Physical Activity) professionals. |
