| Summary, etc. | Avec des faits marquants tels que la victoire du logiciel AlphaGo de la société DeepMind contre le champion du monde du jeu de go Lee Se-Dol, l’intelligence artificielle (IA) est sortie du champ scientifique pour investir l’imaginaire collectif. Portée par ses prophètes et mystiques, discréditée par ses sceptiques et incroyants, l’intelligence artificielle est, depuis le milieu des années 2010, le nom des changements technologiques profonds que sont amenées à connaître nos sociétés. Début 2020, avec l’irruption de la crise de la Covid-19, aussi subite qu’inattendue, l’intelligence artificielle affrontait pour la première fois un ennemi à la mesure du phénomène sociotechnique qu’elle était désormais devenue. Aux éloges et aux célébrations de ses capacités théoriquement sans limites semblait ainsi succéder une authentique mise à l’épreuve. Un an plus tard, force est de constater que les succès de l’intelligence artificielle dans la grande bataille contre la Covid-19 ont été moins nombreux et spectaculaires qu’escomptés au départ. |

| Summary, etc. | With significant events such as the victory of DeepMind’s AlphaGo software over the world champion of the game of Go, Lee Se-Dol, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged from the scientific field and entered the collective imagination. Carried by its prophets and mystics, discredited by its skeptics and unbelievers, artificial intelligence has been, since the mid-2010s, the name of the profound technological changes that our societies are about to experience. At the beginning of 2020, with the outbreak of the Covid-19 crisis – as sudden as it was unforeseen –, artificial intelligence faced for the first time an enemy commensurate with the socio-technical phenomenon that it had now become. The praises and celebrations of the theoretically limitless capacities of artificial intelligence seemed to be followed by a real test. One year later, we have to admit that the successes of artificial intelligence in the great battle against Covid-19 have been less numerous and spectacular than initially expected. |
