Summary, etc. | Cette recherche examine les effets de l’engagement affectif, continu et normatif sur l’intention de rester entrepreneur. Nous importons dans le champ de l’entrepreneuriat le concept d’engagement dans le métier développé par Meyer, Allen et Smith (1993). Nos données s’appuient sur les réponses de 315 entrepreneurs, membres du Mouvement des Entreprises de France. Nos résultats concernant le modèle de mesure confirment que les trois dimensions du modèle d’engagement métier s’appliquent de façon satisfaisante aux entrepreneurs. Notre modèle d’équations structurelles indique des effets distincts et potentiellement complémentaires des engagements affectifs et continus, alors que l’engagement normatif a un effet non significatif. Nous discutons les apports de ces résultats aux recherches sur la psychologie de l’entrepreneur |

Summary, etc. | The effects of affective, continuance, and normative commitment on intentions to remain an entrepreneurThis research examines the effects of affective, continuance and normative commitment on intentions to remain an entrepreneur. We import Meyer, Allen and Smith’s (1993) concept of occupational commitment into the field of entrepreneurship. Our data draws on the responses of 315 entrepreneurs, members of the two main French professional syndicates. Our results regarding the measurement model confirm that the three components of occupational commitment apply to entrepreneurs. Our structural equation model shows that affective and continuance commitment have distinct and potentially additional effects, while normative commitment has no significant effect. We discuss the contribution of our results for research on the psychology of entrepreneurs. |
