| Summary, etc. | RésuméPrendre au sérieux la parole des enfants est généralement perçu comme une des avancées caractéristiques de notre modernité. L’enfance émergerait d’un long passé de silence forcé, ou de babillages insignifiants. Nous nuancerons d’abord cette vision trop simple des relations traditionnelles à l’enfance, en indiquant leur complexité, comme en les resituant dans les réalités générales des sociétés agropastorales. Nous analyserons ensuite l’idéal contemporain de respect de la parole de l’enfant, à travers deux de ses manifestations caractéristiques : la pensée de Françoise Dolto et la Convention internationale des droits de l’enfant. Nous montrerons les excès, voire les absurdités, de cette vision contemporaine de l’enfance. Nous conclurons en renvoyant dos à dos tant la dévalorisation traditionnelle de la parole de l’enfant que sa moderne idéalisation, au profit de la mise en avant de la dynamique d’humanisation qui nous semble être le cœur même de l’enfance. |

| Summary, etc. | Respecting the children’s speech is generally considered as one of the specific progress of modernity. Childhood is supposed to come out from a long period of compelled silence or trivial babbling. First of all, because it is not as simple, we will qualify this vision of the traditional relationship to childhood, mentioning its complexity as well as replacing it in the general realities of the farm and pastoral society. Then we will analyse the contemporary ideal of respecting the child’s speech through two main features: Françoise Dolto’s thoughts and the International Convention on the Children’s rights. We will demonstrate how excessive and indeed absurd this contemporary vision of childhood may be. We will conclude sending away back to back the traditional depreciation of the child’s speech as well as its modern idealisation, favouring the promotion of a more human dynamic which we consider as the very hart of childhood. |
