520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | In Esther Bick’s way, the author has studied a newborn and his blind mother, which has enables him/her (the author) to understand the various aspects of the intersubjective newborn/mother relationship, especially when the mother is faced with difficulties caused by her blindness, and to propound some metospychological bases. The baby’s need for attachment and the « bilingual relationship » necessary to their fulfillment imply a particular psychical development of the baby, who, very early, works to provide for his mother’s « deficiency ». The author suggests that this inclination to sublimate his/her behavior might be a solution to the divided loyalty which the child feels for his blind mother and the surrounding world of the sighted and which – if encysted – could prevent future involvements. |
