| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’enfant-monstre est une image inquiétante qui se propage dans les films et les récits depuis quelques décennies: des enfants malformés par la nature, comme Elephant man, des fils de Satan, tel le bébé de Rosemary, ou de la science, à l’instar de la création du docteur Frankenstein. Dans ces histoires, les adultes sont souvent représentés comme impuissants devant leurs descendants qui se rebellent contre le pouvoir de leurs parents et de leurs lois. Dans une société où les enfants ont un accès trop facile au monde des adultes (pour qui rester jeune est devenu essentiel), les images monstrueuses des enfants incarnent la confusion généalogique et les peurs qui s’y rattachent. |

| Summary, etc. | Over the last few decades, the monster-child is a haunting image spread in films and literature: malformed children by nature such as the Elephant man, sons of the Devil, liker Rosemary’s baby, or by science, resulting in Frankenstein’s creature. In these fictions, adults are often portrayed as powerless before their own descendants, who revolt against their parents and the authority of their laws. In a society where children have such easy access to the adult world (for whom staying young has become essential) images of monstrous children embody genealogical disorders and the fears related to it. |
