520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | This article deals with the question of the evaluation of the desire for children within the field of adoption. The desire for parenting is nothing but natural considering that every animal and human species aims at reproducing itself. Nonetheless the desire for children cannot be circumscribed in that line of arguments either for infertile couples or individuals, or for the 12 % of applicants for whom sterility is not an issue. Then, what originates this desire ? Does one have to “let go of the biological child or the dream child”, as psychologists think, for a clear-sighted adoption ? Is there such a risk in an unbridgeable and unaccepted gap between the dream child and the real child ? Does the desire for children, along with its figures of emptiness, help understand the difficulties, if not the failures, encountered during the adoption process ? |
