| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article aborde le thème du deuil de l’enfant après le suicide d’un de ses parents et tente d’étudier, dans une perspective systémique, les conditions favorables qui permettent à un enfant de pouvoir continuer son développement personnel malgré le suicide d’un de ses parents.Tout d’abord, nous nous attardons sur les spécificités du deuil chez l’enfant, ce qui nous permet de mettre au jour combien le deuil est un facteur de risque chez ces êtres en pleine évolution. Cette affirmation se voit étayée par notre étude sur le deuil après suicide où ce dernier apparaît comme un facteur de risque supplémentaire pour le développement de l’enfant. De plus, dans une perspective systémique, nous élargissons le champ du deuil individuel au deuil familial en prenant en compte les aspects interrelationnels du processus de deuil. Enfin, plusieurs entretiens menés auprès d’adultes ayant perdu un de leur parent par suicide durant l’enfance mettent en évidence qu’un enfant qui vit dans un milieu lui offrant une « base familiale de sécurité » – c’est-à-dire un milieu où il existe du soutien et de la solidarité entre les membres, où les rôles, les canaux de communication et les règles sont réorganisés assurant ainsi la viabilité du système familial, et où l’enfant a à sa disposition des scripts lui permettant de donner un sens cohérent à cette mort – pourra continuer son développement personnel malgré la souffrance occasionnée par le suicide de son parent. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper considers the mourning mechanisms of a child following the suicide of one of his parents. It attempts to study, in a systemic way, the favorable conditions that will allow such a child to complete his or her personal upbringing.First, we delineate the specificities of mourning in children. Based on our study on post-suicidal mourning, we outline the developmental risk of this process on these developing beings. Second, in a systemic perspective, we approach the relational aspects of mourning processes within the whole family, thus broadening the ground of our study to the familial mourning field. Several interviews of adults who as a child lost one of their parents from suicide point to the fact that children who live in a « familial basis of safety » are better able to continue their personal development than others. Such a « familial basis of safety » involves the existence of supportive mechanisms and of solidarity between family members. It also requires a clear organization of the channels of communication, functioning rules and scripts that will allow the child to give a coherent meaning to the death of his or her parent. |
