Par le biais d’une revue de littérature, l’article interroge les facteurs susceptibles d’expliquer cette spécificité de la scolarité des enfants placés. Il s’appuie ensuite sur une recherche menée au sein de l’association SOS Villages d’Enfants, après qu’elle a développé et implanté un programme destiné à améliorer la réussite scolaire des enfants accueillis dans ses structures. L’analyse d’une centaine d’entretiens menés dans cette association permet de restituer la manière dont s’opère, dans cette situation, la transmission d’un rapport spécifique à l’école, aux savoirs et à la culture scolaires. |

| Summary, etc. | National and international research converge to state that being placed in a child protection system considerably reduces the chances of a good education. By way of a revue of the literature, the article questions the factors likely to explain this specificity of the education of children in care. It continues its analysis on the basis of research carried out on the SOS Villages d’Enfants [SOS Children Villages] organisation, after it developed and implemented a program to improve the academic success of the children it received in its structures. The analysis of a hundred interviews conducted in this organisation re-establishes the way in which, in this situation, the transmission of a specific relation to schools, knowledge and academic culture is operated. |
