Summary, etc. At school, we welcome children, families, cultures, and attitudes. However, we rarely question the methods, purpose, and subject of this welcome. Yet, its quality will determine the success of the students’ schooling. Working with Traveller children, I observe the gap that can sometimes exist between family desires and school expectations. Nevertheless, it is essential that a possible path emerges: a space where dialogue is readjusted, conflicts are eased, and possibilities for success are articulated.

Summary, etc. À l’école nous accueillons des enfants, des familles, des cultures, des postures. Mais nous nous questionnons rarement sur les modalités, la finalité et l’objet de cet accueil. Pourtant, la qualité de celui-ci déterminera la réussite de la scolarisation des élèves. Travaillant avec les enfants du voyage, je mesure l’écart qu’il peut y avoir parfois entre le désir familial et les attentes de l’école. Pour autant, il faudra qu’un possible émerge : un écart où viennent se réajuster la parole, s’apaiser les conflits et se formuler des possibilités de réussite.
