À travers le court exposé de trois cas cliniques, nous étudierons les destins des cendres de maris dont les épouses ont conservé la garde, du moins pour un temps. Les deux premières ont une façon perverse de traiter ses restes. Elles gardent un œil sur eux, comme si aucune évasion n’était plus possible. Quant à la troisième, elle respecte la volonté du défunt et ce faisant libère sa conscience. Quels sens donner à ces usages singuliers, et dans quelques cas, non ritualisés des restes funéraires ? |

| Summary, etc. | What becomes of cremation ashes once they have escaped the rule of the law and funeral rites ? This article examines three brief clinical cases and reveals the fate reserved to the ashes of husbands on the part of the wives in whose custody they remained, at least for a time. The treatment of the ashes by the first two might be described as perverse. They keep a close eye on them, as if to prevent any possible form of escape. As for the third, she respects her deceased husband’s last wishes, thereby freeing her conscience. What meaning can we lend to such singular cases, especially those in which cremation ashes receive a non-ritualised fate ? |
