| Summary, etc. | RésuméCertains parents venant de perdre leur enfant dans le cadre d’un décès périnatal n’organisent pas d’obsèques. Dans ce cas, ce sont les établissements hospitaliers qui prennent en charge le devenir du corps en confiant au crématorium du Père Lachaise la mise en œuvre de crémations collectives. Ces crémations ne génèrent pas de cendres : c’est la raison pour laquelle un médaillon en céramique accompagne symboliquement cette opération. Ce médaillon est renouvelé tous les trimestres pour être inhumé au pied de la stèle souvenir du cimetière parisien de Thiais. Le crématorium du Père Lachaise propose désormais une cérémonie trimestrielle, organisée en mémoire des tout-petits. L’article évoque l’organisation de cette cérémonie en expliquant ce qui a été imaginé pour pouvoir répondre à une situation de souffrance souvent cachée, pour ne pas dire ignorée, parce que la mort d’un enfant en devenir est encore tabou dans notre société. Les rites, les symboles utilisés, les textes et la musique accompagnant cette cérémonie peuvent être autant de sources d’apaisement et de réconfort pour ces parents qui vivent un deuil périnatal. |

| Summary, etc. | Parents mourning the loss of a child to perinatal death do not always wish to hold a funeral. In such cases, the hospital is made responsible for the child’s mortal remains which they entrust to the crematorium at Père Lachaise for collective cremation. These cremations do not produce ashes, but a ceramic medallion is edited to mark the event. A new medallion is produced quarterly and inhumed at the foot of the memorial monument in the Parisian cemetery of Thiais. The crematorium of Père Lachaise now also holds a quarterly ceremony to celebrate the memory of the little ones cremated.The article describes the details of this ceremony, explaining how it has been designed to help those bereaved begin to deal with a grief which is often hidden, if not ignored, as the death of an unborn child is still taboo in our society. The rites, symbols, texts and music used in the ceremony may provide some solace and comfort to parents in perinatal mourning. |
