| Summary, etc. | Cet article a pour but de démontrer l’intérêt d’aborder le sujet de la mort en classe primaire, et d’interroger le rôle du professeur des écoles. Il apparaît que le thème de la mort est en filigrane dans les programmes officiels sans pour autant obliger les enseignants à traiter le sujet en tant que tel. L’étude présentée ici relate une expérimentation dans une classe de CM1-CM2 : visite au cimetière, débat philo et réalisation de poèmes. Lors de ces activités, les élèves ont développé des compétences littéraires, civiques et sociales mais aussi en termes de réflexion et d’ouverture d’esprit. |

| Summary, etc. | Speaking about Death in SchoolsThis article aims to demonstrate the importance of raising the subject of death in primary school classes, and of questioning the role of the primary school teacher. It seems that the theme of death is sidelined in the official syllabus and does not oblige teachers to handle the subject as such. The study presented here relates an experiment carried out in a class of CM1-CM2 children (8-10 year olds) which included a visit to the local cemetery, philosophical discussions and the writing of poems. During these activities, the pupils developed not only literary, civic and social skills, but also a greater capacity for reflection and open-mindedness. |
