| Summary, etc. | Il ne s’agit pas ici de traiter l’histoire de la spécialisation des savoirs, mais de soulever la question de leur unité face aux défis de plus en plus complexes auxquels sont confrontés l’humanité et l’ensemble du vivant. La transdisciplinarité, évoquée en premier en 1970, a été proposée comme : 1) un moyen de surmonter les conséquences propres aux systèmes dualistes (par exemple, la séparation entre sujet et objet), ou la dispersion des savoirs (une dimension épistémologique) ; 2) de disposer d’une approche de résolution des problèmes, dits pernicieux (une dimension méthodologique) ; 3) une dimension éthique qui apparaît nécessaire dès lors que la transdisciplinarité se donne comme rôle de « transgresser » les frontières disciplinaires, mais aussi de s’ouvrir à d’autres types de savoirs, que nous illustrerons également en prenant les entretiens transdisciplinaires comme exemples. Se pose alors la question de la responsabilité de la science, seulement vis-à-vis d’elle-même, ou envers la société dans son ensemble. |

| Summary, etc. | Rather than producing a historical account of the specialisation of knowledge, in this paper I raise the question of its unity, in the face of more and more complex challenges to which humanity, but also living beings as a whole, are confronted. Transdisciplinarity, first mentioned in 1970, was advanced as: 1) the means to overcome the consequences of dualistic worldviews (for instance the separation between subject and object) as well as the dispersion of specialised knowledge (an epistemological dimension); 2) disposing of an approach for the resolution of wicked problems (a methodological dimension); 3) an ethical dimension, that arises if transgression of disciplinary boundaries and inclusion of other types of knowledge are issues for transdisciplinarity , which I shall illustrate through the example of transdisciplinary interviews. Thus, a question emerges: is science only accountable to itself, or are there responsibilities to society as a whole? |
