| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article travaille l’hypothèse que le système touristique a provoqué une double « révolution urbaine » : la première débute au xviiie siècle et correspond au développement partout dans le monde de lieux urbains créés spécifiquement par et pour le tourisme : la station touristique. La seconde, plus récente (2e moitié du xxe siècle) est relative à l’imprégnation de plus en plus importante des villes par la sphère de la recréation. Pour cela, nous dégageons dans un premier temps un cadre théorique qui, à partir de travaux existant, propose une définition enrichie et complexifiée de l’« urbanité » et de l’« urbanisation ». Ce socle permet alors de réunifier dans une même réflexion les différentes modalités de participation du tourisme quant à la dimension urbaine des sociétés, ici plus spécifiquement envisagée à travers la qualité de ses lieux. |

| Summary, etc. | This article develops the hypothesis that tourism generates a double “urban revolution ”: the first one is the creation, all around the world since the eighteenth century, of urban places specifically by and for tourism: the tourist resort. The second, from the later twentieth, corresponds to the great importance of recreation in the development of contemporary cities. We therefore first propose a theoretical framework with richer and more complex definitions of “urbanity ” and “urbanization ”. This then allows us to bring together within this framework the different modes of tourist participation in urban contexts with a particular focus on the quality of place. |

| Summary, etc. | ResumenEn este artículo desarrolla como hipótesis que el sistema turístico ha provocado una doble “revolución urbana ”. La primera comienza en el siglo xviii y corresponde al desarrollo en todo el mundo de lugares urbanos creados específicamente por y para el turismo: los destinos turísticos. La segunda, más reciente (segunda mitad del siglo xx) se refiere a la implicación cada vez mayor de las ciudades ámbito del ocio. Para ello, aclararemos en un primer momento un marco teórico que, a partir de trabajos existentes, ofrece una definición más rica y compleja de la “urbanidad ” y de la “urbanización ”. A partir de esta base, es posible reunir en una reflexión común las diferentes modalidades de participación del turismo en la dimensión urbana de las sociedades, aquí específicamente contemplada a través de ña calidad de sus lugares. |
