| Summary, etc. | En décrivant quelques enjeux du trafic de la prostitution de rue au tournant des xixe et xxe siècles à la Goutte d’Or, cet article met au jour l’origine de la mauvaise réputation qui colle toujours à la pierre de ce quartier populaire parisien. L’analyse des doléances envoyées au préfet de police révèle l’intensité des conflits qui mettaient aux prises des acteurs économiques locaux aux conceptions antagonistes de l’espace public. Le rapport original que les péripatéticiennes entretenaient avec les autres usagers de l’espace public enrichissait des commerçants qui, du coup, faisaient des jaloux parmi leurs collègues de l’économie formelle ne bénéficiant justement pas de cette relation directe avec les piétons du quartier. |

Prostitutions, Public Space and Business in Paris’ Goutte d’Or at the End of the 19th CenturyBy describing some issues of the traffic in street prostitution at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries at the Goutte d’Or, this article uncovers the origin of the bad reputation that still clings to the stones of this working-class Paris district. The analysis of the complaints sent to the Commissioner of Police reveals the strength of the conflicts among the local economic actors with comflicting views about public space. While the specific relations of the prostitutes with the other users of the public space enriched some traders, it provoking the jealousy of their colleagues from the formal economy who were unable to benefit from this kind of direct relationship with the pedestrians of the neighborhood. |

El análisis de las quejas enviadas al Prefecto de policía muestra la fuerza de los conflictos entre actores económicos locales y entre concepciones antagónicas del espacio público. La relación original que las prostitutas tejían con el resto de los usuarios del espacio público enriquecía a comerciantes, lo que, por ende, generaba celos entre algunos de los colegas de la economía formal que no se beneficiaban de este tipo de relación directa con los peatones del barrio. |
