| Summary, etc. | RésuméDans l’Europe du xvie siècle, des naturalistes, des médecins, des théologiens protestants émettent des doutes sur l’existence et l’intervention dans les affaires humaines des anges, démons et âmes des défunts. Un érudit français, Pierre Le Loyer, prend la défense, à la fin du siècle, des thèses soutenues par les théologiens catholiques au sujet de ces Esprits. Il propose même en 1605 d’élaborer une science relative à leur apparition dans l’imagination : il la nomme science des Spectres. Il tente ainsi d’introduire ce thème dans les sciences humaines, qui vont prendre leur essor au xviie siècle, indépendamment de la théologie. |

| Summary, etc. | In 16th century Europe, some specialists in natural sciences, physicians, Protestant theologians cast doubt on the existence and action in human affairs of angels, demons, and departed souls. A French erudite, Pierre Le Loyer, defends traditional catholic convictions about those Spirits in the last years of the century and then develops what he calls a Spectres’ science. He tries so to register the examination of Spirits in human sciences, which progress independently of theology in the 17th century. |

Jahrhunderts zweifeln einige Naturforscher, Ärzte und protestantische Theologen an der Existenz der Engel, Dämonen und Totenseelen und an ihrem Eingreifen in die menschlichen Angelegenheiten. Am Ende des Jahrhunderts verteidigt ein französischer Gelehrter, Pierre Le Loyer, die traditionellen katholischen Dogmen über diese Geister und dann schlägt sogar vor, eine Wissenschaft über die Geistererscheinungen zu verarbeiten, die er « Gespenterwissenschaft » nennt. So versucht er, die Untersuchung der Geister in den Humanwissenschaften einzuführen, die im 17. Jahrhundert ohne die Kontrolle der Theologie Fortschritte machen werden. |
