| Summary, etc. | RésuméAu Brésil, le récit officiel concernant la mémoire de l’esclavage diffère nettement de la vision des leaders du mouvement noir contemporain, notamment à propos de la situation et des conditions de vie des Afro-Brésiliens à Rio de Janeiro. Ce mouvement demande à l’État et à la société brésilienne de reconnaître les conditions misérables dans lesquelles les esclaves ont été laissés après l’abolition de l’esclavage, mais aussi la contribution des esclaves à la construction de la société, de l’économie et de la culture brésiliennes et enfin le racisme dont les Afro-Brésiliens sont encore l’objet. Aujourd’hui, des décisions juridiques tendent à favoriser une égalité effective, permettant ainsi l’émergence d’une image positive de la culture afro-brésilienne. |

| Summary, etc. | This article discusses the difference between the official account on the memory of slavery in Brazil and how contemporary black movement’s leaders, notably in Rio de Janeiro, see the Afro-Brazilians’ situation and living conditions. This movement, which seeks to reveal in public space the memory of slavery and its consequences, claims Brazilian State and society to recognize not only the miserable conditions under which former slaves were left after the abolition of slavery, but the contribution of the slaves to the construction of Brazilian society, economy and culture and also that Afro-Brazilians are still the object of racism. If in today’s Brazil, the public debate on reparations comprises a legal aspect of rectification, by creating measures aiming to provide effective equality, this discussion also takes the form of symbolic fight, in which one of the objectives is to build a positive image of the Afro-Brazilian culture. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungIn Brasilien weicht die offizielle Berichterstattung über die Wahrnehmung der Sklaverei vor allem in Bezug auf die Situation und Lebensbedingungen der Afro-Brasilianer in Rio de Janeiro stark ab von der Sichtweise der Führer der zeitgenössischen « Schwarzen-Bewegung ». Die Bürgerbewegung fordert von der brasilianischen Regierung und Gesellschaft die Anerkennung der schlechten Lebensbedingungen unter denen die Menschen seit der Abschaffung der Sklaverei leben. Sie verlangen ebenso die Einbeziehung der ehemaligen Sklaven in den gesellschaftlichen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Prozess sowie die Anerkennung des Rassismus, dem Afro-Brasilianer noch immer zum Opfer fallen. Die derzeitige Rechtsprechung scheint eine tatsächliche Gleichheit zu fördern und trägt so zur Entwicklung eines zunehmend positiven Bildes der afro-brasilianischen Kultur bei. |
