| Summary, etc. | RésuméFondé sur une enquête ethnographique débutée en 2002, associant entretiens et observations in vivo, cet article rend compte des processus par lesquels les trapézistes construisent leurs corporéités et définissent leur identité d’artiste. Faisant suite aux récentes transformations du cirque et à sa reconnaissance en tant qu’expression artistique et culturelle, les formes esthétiques « traditionnelles » et « contemporaines » sont clairement identifiées par les acteurs. Mais leurs expériences sont multiples et sources de tensions. En revenant sur la manière dont les résultats ont été produits, l’auteure contribue également à une réflexion sur l’engagement du chercheur sur le terrain observé. |

| Summary, etc. | Based on the results of an ethnographical inquiry begun in 2002 and consisted of interviews and observations in vivo, this article is an attempt at analysing processes of construction corporealities and definition of artist’s identity by trapezists. The study starts a reflexion on the recent transformations of circus and its labellisation as art. It shows that, even though the experiences of the social actors are multiple and sources of tensions. The physical dimension of this “art of circus” leads nearness with sport : this is a reason why trapezists have to affirm their artist’s identity. In order to contribute to a reflexion on field work, we will explain how results have been obtained. Indeed, other words were pronounced by trapezists, collected and understood differently, because we observed with our body and we felt pain. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungAuf der Grundlage einer 2002 begonnenen, aus Interviews und in vivo Beobachtungen bestehenden ethnographischen Studie widmet sich dieser Artikel dem Prozess der Konstruktion von Körperlichkeit und der Definition von künstlerischer Identität bei Trapezkünstlern. Im Zuge der aktuellen Veränderungen der Welt des Zirkus und seiner kulturellen und künstlerischen Anerkennung, werden heute die traditionellen und zeitgenössischen ästhetischen Formen von den Künstlern selbst bestimmt. Wobei ihre persönlichen Erfahrungen sehr verschieden sind und nicht selten für Spannungen sorgen. Der Artikel reflektiert ebenso die Arbeit des Wissenschaftlers in seinem Forschungsfeld in Bezug auf die Ergebnisse der Studie. |
